8th of November 2007 Jaikoz v2.0.0 Build 1036 released
This is a major release, that adds support for Mp4 files and provides a Windows Vista Compatible Installer.
New Features
- Jaikoz now supports Mp4, M4a and M4p Audio files. You can now easily modify your information for these file types in exactly the same way as you do for Mp3 and Ogg Vorbis files. The only restrictions are that on OSX and Windows Acoustic Ids cannot be created for M4p (protected) files because of the protection mechanism (but you can still match from MusicBrainz). On Linux acoustic matching is not available for Mp4, M4a or M4p files because this is not currently supported by MusicIP.
Windows and Linux New Features
- The installer has now been replaced with a new installer that is Windows Vista compatible. The new installation process requires Java 1.6 to be installed, not because any 1.6 features are used but because it fixes some Vista and Linux bugs that are not fixed in 1.5. There are various improvements to the installation process and a new mechanism for modifying memory and logging parameters, please refer to the manual for details.
Enhancements
- The copy option has now been added to fields in the Audio Panel, this is useful for copying and pasting information from the Audio fields into the tag fields, such as copying the track length to the length field in Mp3s.
- Upgraded the MusicIP Acoustic Id recognition software, this will increase the number of tracks that have an Acoustic Id generated.
- Added an option (enabled by default) for writing genres so that they can be recognised by iTunes. This is required because iTunes does not recognise all the genres defined in ID3v2.
Fixes
- Previously when editing a field Jaikoz seems to try and delete the first character in the field, this is now fixed.
- Previously the Disc No field was being saved when edited in the Detail panel, this is now fixed.
- Previously when using ID3v23 custom genres were not being saved in the correct format, this is now fixed.
- Previously if the 'Delete empty folders on save' was selected it could prevent some files being saved, this is now fixed.
OSX Fixes
- Previously the default memory size for OSX was set to 512MB, when this amount of memory was not actually available Jaikoz ran very slowly, the default memory setting has now been reduced to 256MB.
Windows Vista Fixes
- Previously the combo box image displayed in the panels was incorrect, this is now fixed.
- Previously it was difficult to differentiate the current values from the choices using Manual Musicbrainz Match, this is now fixed.
